Tales with a Point: Fables and Fairy Tales

Jay and Leslie

Jay Cady and Leslie Seifert-Cady of Laughing Matters not only bring fables and fairy tales to life in this energetic performance, they help children analyze the stories by identifying characters, settings, plots, and morals. Using theatricality, humor, circus skills, and audience participation, they create unique versions of four stories: The Tortoise and the Hare, The Girl Who Cried Wolf, The Three Billy Goats Gruff, and The Three Little Pigs. Children are invited to compare Jay and Leslie's versions to others they have heard or read. Children also participate in the show--sometimes as a whole group and sometimes as onstage volunteers. The result is a rollicking good time that addresses key learning standards.
