Natural Dyeing: 2-3 Day Residency

Teaching Artist Jamie Root begins with the 45-minute lecture/demonstration outlined previously. Over the next 2-3 days, students will then discover the use of diffferent fibers, mordants, and dyes.  Students will participate in dyeing and making their own great examples of textile art.

Grade Levels: 3,4,5,6,7,8

Fees: $110 single, $95 each for 2 or more on the same day; Materials Fee: $15 per class + other materials fee per student to be determined based on project; A $110 planning meeting is required for the residency / The break between workshops must not exceed 90 minutes to receive the reduced rate. Title 1 Schools may qualify for funding assistance.

Availability: Open year round

Teacher Guide: natural dyeing

Requirements: A well-ventilated room; tables; a source of electricity and water nearby. The artist will bring all materials needed, including hot plates to cook dyes.
