Weaving and Other Fiber Arts: Lecture/Demo or 2-3 day residency

Jamie Root

Starting with the variety of fibers used around the world to spin yarns and threads, we will examine basic cloth structures of woven, knitted and non woven (felt) fabrics and the variety of tools and machines used by fiber artists.  This presentation should be tailored to the cultural, historical or design studies of the students.

In the 2-3 day residency, teachers select a student project:  paper weaving, spinning, weaving or stitching through burlap.  Create small bags, pillows or wall hangings.   A planning meeting is required for a 3-day residency.
