Word-Picture of Chinese Calligraphy Writing (The)

Chinese calligraphy has been used for more than 5,000 years and is considered the most revered art form in China. Students will experience its unique structure and design, as well as the specialized tools used to create it. Students will learn pictographic elements that evolved into abstract calligraphic characters, and Chinese culture as they enjoy this unique art form.

Grade Levels: 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12

Fees: $110 for 1 workshop; $95 each, for 2 or more workshops on the same day ; $2 materials fee per student / The break between workshops must not exceed 90 minutes to receive the reduced rate.

Maximum Audience Size: 30 students

Availability: Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays

Teachers' Guide: word picture of chinese calligraphy writing

Requirements: 18x11 newsprint, water containers, newspapers (for covering tables), paper towels. The teaching artist will provide ink and bamboo brushes. Some teachers may want to purchase rice papers. Teachers must be present at all times during the workshop.
